The International Conference of Fluids and Chemical Engineering (FluidsChE 2015) is organised by Centre of Excellence for Advanced Research in Fluid Flow (CARIFF) Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia. FluidsChE 2015 aims to provide a platform for leading researchers to discuss innovative ideas, latest research, technological advances, changes in the regulatory and industry development. With the theme "Fluids Engineering: Challenges and Opportunities", we hope that the FluidsChE 2015 will offer a scientific platform for researchers from all around the globe to share their new findings.

CARiFF aims to perform leading research in advanced fluid flow focusing on pipeline and drag reduction, multiphase mixing, oil and gas, computational fluid dynamics and reactive flow, which will lead to publication in high impact journals and technology development for the industry, develop talented researchers and engineers to become top biomass experts, and to provide state-of-art facilities for research. CARiFF at FKKSA is currently equipped the following research facilities:

*      Pipeline and drag reduction lab

o   Particle drag coefficient

o   Pipeline and drag reduction facilities


*      Fluid mixing & product formulation

o   Pilot plant mixing unit

o   Mixing tank

o   Stirred tank bioreactors ~ 2L,10L, 20L, 50L

o   Bionexus pilot plant (Pythochemical extraction and spray drying)


*      Oil and gas technology

o   Biodiesel pilot plant

o   ASTM D6751 testing facilities ~ Cetane analyser, Gas pycnometer, Brookfield Digital Rheometer, Flash point tester, Potentiometric titrator, Specific gravity meter

o   Analytical lab ~ FTIR, NIR, DSC, TGA, Soxhlet extraction unit, Microwave extraction unit, Analytical balance, pH meter, Fume hood, Homogenizer, Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), High performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), High speed centrifuge, Rotary evaporator


*      Fluid dynamics

o   CFD lab and training facilities (30 workstations)

CARIFF offers the following trainings


Basic CFD training

~ Geometry creation using Design modeller, meshing with Ansys meshing, modelling using Ansys Fluent R14. Alternatively, we also offers extensive training on Fluent 6.2.36 & Gambit 2.4.6


Advanced CFD training

~ Advanced Ansys meshing, modelling using Ansys Fluent R14 on Combustion, multiphase flow, separation, heat transfer, reaction


Herbal extraction and spray drying

~ Hands on training on pilot scale extraction unit & spray drying

~ Course on phytochemical (herbs) extraction and spray drying
